Always, one may view the movement of consciousness expanding through the prism of what the self takes to be real. How real are you to yourself? How real are those you know to you? How real are those you don't know to you, but only read about, or hear about, or imagine about?
A measure of the movement toward the unified Consciousness of the One is how much the self experiences others as 'other' or finds reasons and rationales for rejection or separation.
Recognizing this, one must walk gently past obstacles, judgments, self-judgments, and avoidances to the heart of the matter which is one's capacity and motivation to love. Seek to be one with love in all things, and all obstacles will fall away.
